Q1) When an Automatic start/stop escalator is idling in a normal stopping mode, how can the users distinguish this from an escalator which is out of service?
A clearly visible signal system, e.g. road traffic signals, shall be provided to the Automatic start/stop escalator. The signals should indicate to the user whether the escalator is available for use, and its direction of travel. The following figures show the examples of traffic signals.
